A false equivalence. There is a HUGE difference between sacrificing for you God, family and even country, and obeying your King, or local authorities and bureaucrats for that matter. If you have not seen the huge cultural difference in social compliance, you have not spent much time in Asia.

But my guess is that you aren’t Catholic. No one who has any understanding of orthodox Christianity would make the claim that Western culture does not have a tradition of sacrifice. The problem is that it has been largely forgotten.
Western culture, until very recently, also embraced the concept of the common good.
