A simple rule: You only test those with symptoms.
That is an idiotic rule. By the time they show symptoms they have likely been infecting others for days and approximately half their lungs is already scarred.
Not if you want to know the prevalence of something in a community.
Even after 10 deaths in WA, they still had not tested everyone in Life Center Kirkland. I was in the hospital every day visiting my mother before she died, and every day that I was there over 2 weeks, Critical Care had Wuhan Flu patients. When I started to feel sick, I called the State Dept of Health, and I could not get tested. Even symptoms and exposure could not get me a test.

With a POS test kit that creates 30% - 50% false negatives. Now we are Italy 2 weeks ago, and need to do a lockdown to stop this thing.
Some Massachusetts health official said in a news briefing yesterday that people getting this more from symptomatic v asymptomatic carriers (only place I’ve heard of this to date). Even so, there several reports of symptomatic people not being tested due to rationing of scarce tests.
