Older people, and those with comorbidities, can definitely contract CoVid-19 more easily, develop symptoms more rapidly, and die more often and swiftly than younger people and those without comorbidities.

So Italy's population having a greater proportion of the elderly is definitely a factor in how fast CoVid-19 comes on there per capita.
