Yep- Italy is suffering terribly. I pray we’re learning from them. Have you read the letters several of the docs there have written? Overwhelmed.
One thing I’d like to see emphasized in public announcements is asking people not to go to ER if they think they have it. CALL FIRST. Get instructions. If an infected person walks into ER we have 30 plus staff out for 2 weeks.
There is a definite need to emphasize calling ahead. Signs should be posted at entrances to health care facilities, from clinics, to hospitals. With our temperate climate, it is reasonable for hospitals to set up a triage tent outside the hospital facility.
What I don’t understand is why we aren’t seeing more video coming out of Italy like we did in the early days of the outbreak in China. Italy does not have a locked down, censored internet like they do. Why aren’t we seeing more alarms being sounded by HCWs and the public? I’m seeing nothing on social media about how dire things are over there. It’s weird.
