Uh, you have not been at a post office if you think that. Lots of over 60s working there, especially rural carriers. Large number of vets retire out of the military at 40 or so, and proceed to work for another 20 to 30 years to draw a second retirement. Believe me they are not healthy people either. Lots of smokers with horrible eating habits due to being under-staffed and running to finish their routes. Subs get run in the ground trying to cover two or more routes a day. Most of the clerks are sleep deprived too, especially the “part-timers” who work the 58 hours a week shifts and never know from one day to the next which shift they will be working.
Yeah. Our postmistress is probably in her 60’s. Our mail lady is in her late 30’s. The UPS/FedEx guys are very very fit and probably in their mid/late 20’s or early 30’s. Our UPS guy was kind of chubby when he started but now he’s like the ‘after’ in a gym advertisement.
