Jake that is just what I was talking about.

Are we short on Epi pen parts? Let’s get busy! No equipment to make our own penicillin? Start that yesterday! Overtime available at the tree farms and tp factories...etc., produce gallons of hand sanitizer etc and do some bargain hunting on the stock market! let’s not sit in fear but go and get it. We can 3D print things and etc, we aren’t dead yet.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Calif. - Three additional cases of novel coronavirus were confirmed in Riverside County Monday, bringing the county’s total to six cases.

Riverside University Health System-Public Health said the three individuals who tested positive for novel coronavirus are residents in the Coachella Valley. All three are believed to have been infected as a result of travel into areas where COVID-19 has been confirmed, or through contact with a known case.

Dr. Cameron Kaiser, a public health officer with Riverside County, said that two of the individuals have been isolated at home while the third is being cared for at a Coachella Valley hospital.

Coronavirus exposure puts US Army Europe commander in self-quarantine

Lt. Gen. Christopher Cavoli may have been exposed at a recent conference: US Army

By Thomas Barrabi
The commander of U.S. Army Europe and several of his staff members are in self-quarantine on Monday due to potential exposure to coronavirus, the Army said.

Lt. Gen. Christopher Cavoli and the staff members may have been exposed at a recent conference, U.S. Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy said in a statement. While officials did not identify the conference at which the exposure may have occurred, Reuters said it took place in Germany and involved land force commanders.

“Out of an abundance of caution and following recommended protocols, [Cavoli] and others potentially affected are self-monitoring and working remotely to fulfill their command duties and responsibilities,” McCarthy said. “U.S. Army Europe public health officials have notified all other U.S. personnel who were at risk of exposure.”

sure. Like that nursing home in WA - 70 staff out of 150 out - that’s a shift and a half not covered, whether it’s nurses aides or laundry workers - both essential.

DOD Updates Coronavirus Situation, Guidance

Air Force Brig. Gen. (Dr.) Paul Friedrichs, the Joint Staff surgeon, and Robert G. Salesses, deputy assistant secretary of defense for homeland defense integration stressed the department is still laser-focused on three aspects: protecting service members and their families, ensuring crucial DOD missions continue and supporting the whole of government approach to the situation.

DOD is supporting the situation with the ocean liner Grand Princess docking on Oakland, California, with several people aboard having contracted the virus. DOD will provide four bases — Travis Air Force Base, California, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas; Miramar Marine Corps Air Station, California and Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Georgia — that will allow the Department of Health and Human Affairs to quarantine the passengers for 14 days, Salesses said.

Friedrichs said that right now the “the immediate risk to our force remains low.”

There have been a handful of cases in DOD around the world. “No one is seriously ill at this point and everyone has been diagnosed is being appropriately treated, getting the care that they need,” the doctor said. “So we have implemented a number of measures in order to make sure that people are appropriately identified and treated.”

As of this morning, there are seven people that officials suspect may have the virus and they are in the process of being tested. There are two more active duty personnel who are presumptive positives, Friedrichs said. This occurs when the first test is positive and officials are waiting for the results of a second test. Finally, there is an active duty service member in Korea who is unquestionably positive.

St. Louis-area woman tests positive for coronavirus after flying into O’Hare and taking Amtrak train home
By Katherine Rosenberg-Douglas and Kate Thayer

Health officials in Illinois and Missouri are trying to track down people who came in close contact with a St. Louis-area woman who tested positive for the coronavirus after flying into O’Hare International Airport, staying with a friend here, then taking an Amtrak train to her home last week.

The woman, in her 20s, flew into O’Hare on Monday and took an Amtrak train to St. Louis on Wednesday, according to Missouri and St. Louis County officials. Officials did not say where she stayed in the Chicago area, or how she got to Union Station to board the Amtrak 303 train.

Louisiana confirms first presumptive positive case of coronavirus

Edwards declined to release more information about the patient in a press conference later Monday afternoon.

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell, however, said the patient visited a Jefferson Parish emergency room for pneumonia-like symptoms. That patient remained hospitalized for several days as their symptoms worsened before the presumptive positive test result was returned.

The case is not believed to be associated with any travel, Cantrell said.

Anyone read Michael Fumento today? He’s still on the “you’re all morons” kick. He doesn’t say that exactly but that’s what he thinks. The boy who never cries wolf, even when it is a wolf.

the airlines claim their HEPA filters are better than hospital quality, but I guess that depends on where the filters are located in relation to one’s seat. I dunno if you saw the non-scientific video I put up about dirty airplanes, but, in order, headrest #1 dirtiest, then safety card pocket, then bathroom handle, then tray then seatbelt.

Makes sense the headrest would be dirtiest because people have a habit of using them as a walking aid as they board.

In the past few weeks, my employer - a large multi-national/international bank has done the following:

First they banned all travel to China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and Taiwan.

In addition they banned all our Asia-Pac partners from commuting to their offices and implemented the Work from Home business continuity plan for everyone in Asia/Pacific.

Then the news about Italy broke, and travel to Europe from North America was banned. Travel within Europe was approved for European Partners only however it was highly scrutinized and had to be for "very important business purposes only."

The following Monday, all travel within Europe was banned.

Two days after travel within Europe was banned, all travel within the United States was banned.

Last Wednesday, those of us in the Chicago area who work from different offices were all instructed we could no longer commute between offices to do our jobs. I work primarily out of a far western suburban office and occasionally commute into Chicago (yeah, I know ... "Chicago") to meet with business partners and fellow IT folks.

This morning at 1:26am our CTO sent an email to all US IT folks (that includes me ....) that he's instituted the Business Continuity Work From Home plan and we are all to work from home until the end of March.

This has all transpired in roughly the past two and a half weeks.

The absolute INSANITY and panic this stupid Wuhan Virus (let's call it what it is!) is wreaking on everything and all common sense has completely flown out the window. This whole thing stinks to high heaven.

IMPORTANT

******The findings confirm that COVID-19 is spread simply through breathing, even without coughing, he said. They also challenge the idea that contact with contaminated surfaces is a primary means of spread, Osterholm said.
“Don’t forget about hand washing, but at the same time we’ve got to get people to understand that if you don’t want to get infected, you can’t be in crowds,” he said. “Social distancing is the most effective tool we have right now.”*****
