The reason VPNs are important is because the only way a hacker can get to you is via your IP address. Once they have your ip address they can scan your system to determine the open ports. I have the site bookmarked. Once they have an open port they can get into your system and do anything they want.
What a VPN does is give you a masked ip address. You could be in Ohio and your IP address would show you in Zimbabwe. That’s they key. Now I’m sure there is a chance that the VPN provider could be hacked but...really? I work for a web based buisness. There are protections for that. If you’re that paranoid you may as well just burn your computer.
Sites like FR, once you join can see your MAC address or your disk serial number but YOU are letting them do that. That’s an important point. Oh yeah, if you didn’t know that, trust me, it’s true.
