So I guess the Italians have to press 1 for Italian, 2 for Chinese,...
Ill bet youre right!
This goes deep with me...
Language is the thing which enables an invisible unity among people.
A united nation (or family or group of any sort) must share a common language.
Must.
Without a shared language there is no free communication, but instead there are stilted and broken forms of communication and those things inevitably cause fracturing in that community.
Sorry - I go on too long sometimes!
The importance of language with its vital, life-giving, unifying facets is one of the central themes of my book, and the phenomenon of language and its incredible, invisible beauty is fascinating to me.
:-)
I never thought about it, but youre right. Language is so important.
In 1984, they started reducing the number of words that kids learned. They knew that with less language the people wouldnt be able to have complex thoughts or communicate them. Unfortunately our public education system has also figured that out.
How neat that you are writing a book! Where can we find it?
