You may well be correct—but the whole purpose of the CDC delay of the tests was to develop a superior test (for just the reasons you cited).
I believe the Italy and S. Korea tests were something like 98% accurate, and CDC wanted to improve on that number.
I have no idea whether the new test did improve on it or not.
That’s a piss-poor excuse for letting a deadly virus spread through your country unimpeded for a month.
I have posted many times that we should be using the same test that Singapore is using.
The Singapore test was developed in conjunction with Duke University in North Carolina!
