What if what looks like a separate strain today later testing and inspection proves to be false?

What if ... the Chinese release the real numbers and origins - numbers in the millions of cases and 100s of thousands of deaths from a virus strain that they tested in the northern Uigur test area where it successfully killed 5000, and was to be transported to a holding area before being deployed in Japan, but the trucks ran off the road and the canisters spilled. Locals rushed to the scene and stole the canisters opening them to see what they were worth ...

“If there’s a lesson that historical pandemics of influenza provide, it is that earlier (and longer duration) social distancing measures were associated with less mortality and health burden. A review of some evidence:”

ABSOLUTELY. We can ‘sanitize’ our hands until there’s only bone left, but spend 20 minutes in a cab with a vector and with the windows closed and it won’t matter. The viruses (Corona and others) are LAUGHING at us, for making it so easy for them to find new ‘hosts’.

Good point. Well this novelle virus has been living in bats only for quite awhile. Figure no more than 10,000 to 100,000 little bats at a time. Now it is propagating in the giant lungs of humans. A new species for the virus as it morphs a couple bits of DNA with just about every generation. We have no idea where the vampire will end up. We do know it hates the sun.

thanks for the snips about Israeli vaccine progress. We have a few SoCal companies (one that did the ebola ) working on vaccines too. Some existing antivirals have shown mixed results.

I was in the store the other day and noticed the shortages in soap and sanitizer and thought, boy, there must have been a lot of people that weren’t washing their hands before this! And now they are, and that’s a good thing.

New strains have to exist already. Their code changes a couple bits every production. Whether they raise to the level of functional differences is in question. But that is probably just a matter of time and number of infections.

The trolling was not productive discussion about the virus.

It was mockery and derision and provoking others.

Was thinking about this a few weeks ago. This would be a great way to make everyone go with credit/debit cards so Big Brother knows exactly what you’ve purchased and a back up for facial recognition. Can’t sneak out to the store on day 6 instead of day 7.

by BIL was complaining there was no TP in Seattle.

down here in SoCal, Costco and a few others are starting to limit water to 2 cases/day/member and same with TP.

There has to be a way to wash the data, to prevent that from happening.

I am not claiming I could. But this seems like something that analysts would be tasked with routinely.

Anyhow, I am preparing for the worst (2 week quarantine), and hoping for the best. I know I have seen a number of posters say 2 weeks is not enough. But I figure, my wife will have killed me by then, so it won’t matter :)

If that makes me a doom troll, so be it!

I was wrong about the outcome of the impeachment. I got the answer I wanted, but not the answer I predicted. I am glad. I hope I am wrong about the virus, too. Really really really wrong!

Stores here have been limiting purchases for a week or two. Mainly on cleaning products and tp. Ours even has a limit of 4 on cream cheese for two of the three brands they carry, sigh. Yes, I bought 4 of the two brands on Monday. Will use some with the one lonely can of spinach that was on the grocery shelf for stuffed chicken, yum.

If they are like me, they can starve for a few weeks (I need to dump about 70 pounds, according to the CDC).

But most kids can’t. They have little to no fat reserves. At least my littlest. And my oldest is a teenager, and while he has a few extra pounds, it would be dangerous beyond a week.

Yes, it has begun. Think WW2 type rationing, by the time this ends. Sad, but that is what happens when a country drops its guard and starts arguing about drag queens in libraries.

“Ontario reports new COVID-19 case, patient used transit while symptomatic”

Perhaps he was trying to keep Ontario ‘sustainable’?

A month of preps won’t be long enough.

You’ll likely be feeling icky for several days so won’t want to fight the Costco crowds before you realize you need to see a doctor. Then your state health dept. will tell your doctor you’re not sick enough to be tested. So, you go home until you’re feeling worse and maybe you’ll get tested then. You go home and have a few of your prep meals while you wait a week for the test results. By then your 2 weeks has passed. You pinky swear you’ll stay home for another 14 days with one can of beans left in the pantry. Of course, by then, Pence will convince the idiots at CDC to quarantine for 3 weeks but you’ll be dead from starvation or killed by your wife for not stocking up for at least a month. Ok, say you manage to get let out of self isolation but would you feel like fighting more Costco crowds immediately?

If you love your wife a little bit, don’t be a doom troll. At least get enough so she doesn’t starve. If not, then more for the rest of us.
