Thanks for that information. Something that just occurred to me in reading your post is this, “Could the virus also become a trigger for autoimmune diseases such as MS?”
As to the “S” strain burning out, is it possible that it will “learn” to be less lethal or infect less vulnerable population such as healthy children in order to survive? Dumb question, I know.
There is no such thing as a dumb question (!!) , especially when it concerns one's health.
The problem is in the RNA of all viri; they adapt and change and mutate so readily that there is a certain amount of unpredictability.
This is why so many of research doctors and technicians get so frustrated, and why research monies dry up so quickly.
Development of viri research is generally thought to be a financial "loss leader" for most pharmaceuticals, that they have abandoned research.
It is all about the unpredictability.
For example, the flu vaccine of 2017-18 was only about 40% effective, due to influenza "A" and strain "B".
The influenza shots minimized only 40% fewer doctor visits or admissions to medical care; it was a professional educated guess by virologists.
You can't make money to comphensate for research on an educated guess, unless you are underwritten by government.
There is some recent research evidence that covid-19 may attack not just the pulmonary system,
but also the nervous system which controls breathing.
The virus is so novel, and the Chinese are less than cooperative with information, that there is much recent information coming out from NIH and CDC.
This research has not undergone peer review, nor had official publication, so it remains interesting, but still is conjecture.
Medical researchers are learning more and more each day, from reliable local sources,
rather than relying solely on the Chinese government sources.
