Prof. Itamar Grotto, the Deputy Director-General of Israel’s Health Ministry stated on Wednesday that the wide-scale spread of the coronavirus in Israel is inevitable after a vice-principal of an elementary school and a 9th-grade student were diagnosed with the virus, requiring over 1,000 students to be put into quarantine.
Israel’s Health Ministry announced on Tuesday night that three more Israelis were diagnosed with the coronavirus, raising the total number of cases in Israel to 15.

you are just describing the first wave. what about this winter’s wave (norther hemisphere?)
as you know, once you extrapolate this into a recurring seasonal illness, the world quickly becomes unrecognizable.
politics by nature is completely unequipped to respond to this here. these are people that by definition find middle ground solutions to please as many as possible, or displease as few, etc.
once this springs infection is done, the next response set will be more robust, though once again pleasing the economic numbers may interfere or come first before overt containment.

Keep in mind that Europe is going through the identical process—this is a western culture problem, not a single country stupid bureaucracy problem.

I am describing the situation today.
I am aware that this can become an annual fun-fest (as the Spanish Flu did.)
If that happens without a building of immunity or a vaccine, it will be a major annoyance (if not worse) every fall.
We are still early in the game because there is little information about what is going on. Some of that is intentional, some of it is due to confusion, and some of it is from the “novel” aspect of the virus.
Needless to say, all of these folks need to be tested...
