A: UV lamps should not be used to sterilize hands or other areas of skin as UV radiation can cause skin irritation.

Toss your keys and cell phone in as well. The UV light will degrade plastics to a degree. Hmm - yellowed cell phone cover or cold grey skin 6 feet under?
