Sort of. But this is Ottawa warning about something happening in the northern GTA—kind of like D.C. giving a warning about something happening in northern New Jersey.

From a Canadian perspective, Toronto, Vancouver, and probably Montreal are likely hopeless in terms of containment. There is a price for being a world-class international city, and it is about to get paid.

Ottawa is small enough, self-centred enough, and resource rich enough that if any city of a million people is going to make it through in relatively good shape, I’m betting on Ottawa.

And not just intellectually. I’m two hours out.

Lots of politicians heading to/fro though, correct?

I wonder what could potentially happen to a place like Niagara-on-the-Lake. Tourism is the main driver of Old Town. Lots of wineries and of course the Shaw Festival. Lots of Chinese tourists from mid-late April until late-September.
