That's going to be the worst. If only 5,000,000 people get it and assuming that 20% need hospitalization (which seems to the number so far) then that alone takes up every hospital bed in America. If only 2,500,000 people get infected half the beds will be filled with corona patients.
I wonder.
Will covid complement A and B influenza or compete with it?
I expect it will compete, so total cases, and deaths, will be about the same.
Yeah, early to say either way.
Fortunately insulin is a domestic product, and I hope most of the supplies aren’t from China. Just because the medical system gets overwhelmed doesn’t mean that everyone with a medical condition has to drop dead instantly.
I’m close enough to Ottawa (about a 100 miles as the crow flies), and government officials are government officials; I hope I’ve balanced being out in the sticks with being close to good potential supplies.
Not by planning so much, especially as far as the diabetes goes, but by providence.
Except those beds are already full. There lies the rub.
I suspect, since Americans are typically working from a much healthier baseline than the Red Chinese, that we’ll have 10% serious cases AT MOST.
