Dick has been a liberal Democrat his entire life, which is not surprising because he grew up during the Depression. In 1968 he left the entertainment business to work on Gene McCarthy’s campaign. He’s true to his lifelong beliefs.
Gene McCarthy looks like Barry Goldwater when compared to Bernie Sanders. Gene McCarthy was opposed to the Vietnam War and he wanted to get out of there in 1968 instead of 1975. McCarthy was not a communist.
