If you’ve followed at all, I believe V L is more concerned about the economic effects of a pandemic than “the health of Americans” as it relates to direct infections by this virus.

That is not necessarily a “Scrooge” or harsh attitude. A very hard economic dive could kill more people than this virus. Not to mention that if economic losses lead to the Dems taking over in November, their policies will kill even more people.

I cannot even imagine the long-term implications of this. if it mutates and becomes annual in effect, do we deal with 20% serious cases for most of the population annually?

We couldn't even handle the first year. We would have to increase the number of hospital beds from about 1 million (Current) to 12 million IF it's ONLY as virulent and widespread as the flu. If it's MORE virulent and more widespread forget it.

I think the problems are Microsoft’s prediction of today, and that suspected “first community transmission” case: They negated the speech / presser.

IMO the former is more significant than the latter, at this point. If we start getting a lot of “community transmissions”, of course, that’s a serious problem.

We got a bottle of something called ‘rebel yell’.

Doesn't that smell like Aqua Velva? Maybe that's Heaven Hill.

WRT “That other 20% will need ICU care, which could overwhelm our resources if this were China.” How many spare, equipped, manned hospital beds do you think there are in the U.S.?

"First thing I noticed when I did the blast run were those inserts.
Knew they were up to no good and were manmade..."

You didn't know, you suspected, and we are no closer to knowing right now.

Also, I have read opinions of others that the "hiv-ebola" insert is not at all uncommon in other sources of natural genetic material -- even plant viruses -- presumably including the cleavage site.

Professional opinion.

I will say no more.

It’s a sequence motif thing. Not just a sequence homology thing.

For something to insert not only a sequence homology but also the precise motif is very unlikely.

“that suspected “first community transmission” case...”

“Suspected” is key, No one’s looked for the source.

“Community transmission.” That is so vague it could mean almost anything.

Some sex workers in the US are from China. (Think of all those “massage parlors”.)

How many men , whose disease is of “unknown origin” would actually tell the doctors that they patronize such places?

“For something to insert not only a sequence homology but also the precise motif is very unlikely.”

Point taken. However, one might have said the precise evolution of human beings was very unlikely as well...

Some of us don’t believe in strict evolution.

Precisely for that reason.

Thanks.

I still think the ACE2 connection was thin based on protein expression. I would have expected far greater evidence if hepatic, kidney and gastrointestinal systems were involved.

There have been no consistent reports of this.

There have been t-cell discussions related to the disease expression and response to different agents. I am leaning in that direction.

ACE2 tissue expression

I haven’t looked at chart in a while. This could be a bad couple of weeks. I remember the wild gyrations of the last collapse. Not this time. No one is gonna buy this dip.
