There is a simple way to test if people actually believe the “WE ARE ALL DOOMZ” mantra that they are peddling.
If you believe that we are all doomed and that this will become at least as bad as the 1918 Spanish Flu, would you stake your posting privileges on it?
In other words, if this hasn’t spiraled out of control by July 1, 2020, and at least matched the 1918 Spanish Flu, would you agree to leave the site and never post again?
I am willing to bet that no one will take that bet, why? Because then there would be an actual consequence for being wrong.
Let’s test my hypothesis and see how many take the bet.
Sorry, but that’s just stupid. No one is going to bet on an absolute unknown.
However, being concerned and taking prudent action is nothing less than sensible.
I will take you up on that but with Feb 2022. The Spanish Flu lasted two years.
Ping!
I don’t want it to spiral out of control and be worse than the 1918 Spanish Flu! I want it stopped. That’s why I post articles on it.
You’re premise that everyone posting articles on coronavirus, are convinced that it will necessarily be worse than the Spanish Flu is a false premise.
What I did do, is I bought puts on the market on Friday when I saw the out of china numbers growing. Yeah I’ve had two very profitable days. But I’d rather see this thing stopped in it’s tracks than to make money.
↑ Click on the thumbnail above to see how calm it all is in China ↑
617,000 died from the Spanish flu here.
50,000 have already died in China if you believe the insider reports.
So Ill take the bet that more people will die from this than the Spanish flu.
Once it hits India and Africa, itll kill millions.
Looks like training exercise on China. For the flu?
Will you sweat not to wear a mask until at least Election Day?
🙄
How nonsensical and absurd a proposition....especially considering that the ultimate numbers of the Spanish Flu, which you reference, were an unknown, at this time in it's inception.
Two completely different viruses.
I have a suggestion, if you don't care for the corona virus threads, why not just ignore and not post?
I DON'T ask that you leave the site and take your posting privileges, though 😉.
“The Spanish flu pandemic of 1918, the deadliest in history, infected an estimated 500 million people worldwideabout one-third of the planet’s populationand killed an estimated 20 million to 50 million victims, including some 675,000 Americans.Oct 12, 2010.”
You might want to reword your bet to worldwide not just US deaths.
Those betting on just US deaths are gaming the system.
Also, set a time limit of 2 years after the first known death to the Corona Virus.
Ah, if by 7/1/2020 this virus has “matched” the 1st 6 months* of the Spanish Flu, then YOU agree to leave FR forever?
*Heck, make it 7 months.
I would advise extreme caution with your answer. Heeheehee.
No need for your "bet". If the coronavirus that is currently causing problems in China becomes widespread here there will be plenty of disruption, and sadly many lost lives.
Being aware, and prepared for a potential problem is a good thing, because it can help minimize suffering.
But we'll find out one way or another what happens over time. If the coronavirus becomes widespread in the USA we'll know, because unfortunately a number of posters on FR are likely to be victims of the disease.
So the "bet" will happen anyway, just in the opposite way to what you suggest.
The thg thing none is addressing is the susceptibility of those with the mongol genotype to this pathogen..Chinese and Asian and american indians..In fact auto antibodies are to a specific glycoprotein residue return to the liver carrier protein called asialo muccinoids..even the ace2 haplotype are mongol..This is “their” disease and It has already caused horrifying tragedy there...MERV targets a ubiquitous protein cleavage system called dopeptydl peptidase..found in north african and middle east gene pools..why? The bat is sars and the camel is MERV purported
