Excellent input! ThanQ!! Great images -- saving the URL...

However, the localized bloom (only in a specific, single cove on LSJI) appears to be considerably more monocellular or filamentary. At least, it lacks the bulk and vegetative structure of sargassum...

The actual biological ID is second order importance, though. First order is that it appears to be directly related to support / operation (HVAC) of the subterranean complex. It appears to wax & wane in concert with the probable human activity level in the tunnel system. (With the island mostly shut down or in maintenance mode now, the "red bloom" is essentially gone...)
