This is a direct salvo in the silent war.
Ammo is almost gone. I smell it on them.
I guess the only thing they have left in the playbook is aliens.
When returning from my Dad's 90th birthday party in Vancouver last week, there were three people in front of me at U.S Immigration: a Chinese couple at the head of the line and a white guy as a buffer between me and them. The Chinese couple approach the immigration inspector. They are returning to China. He asks them how long since they left China. Eight days, they say. He asks more questions and takes their fingerprints, and then escorts them to extra special screening. While he's gone, the guy in front of me and I share our incredulity.
Why are they going back to China through the U.S.?. Are we going to have to use the same fingerprint machine? Should we be bathing ourselves in Purell? Fortunately, our interviews with the immigration were much shorter and he didn't ask either of us for fingerprints.
I wasn't even aware that the U.S. had shut its borders to Chinese travelers. I wonder what happened to this couple. I keep looking at the Vancouver news to see if two Chinese travelers have been added to the coronavirus list. There's been no mention of new Chinese victims. A recent Vancouver case was a woman returning from Iran, who took a plane from Montreal to Vancouver after returning to Canada. She has already infected at least one other person, and the people on that plane must be sweating even if they don't have coronavirus.
