That’s me.. stage 4 metastatic cancer in the lungs. Was in hospital over this weekend due to shortness of breath and chest pain. In a oncology/pulmonary floor. Nurses had all heard of CV but none knew too much let alone had any bulletins on how to screen for it. They wore basic surgical masks and no other protective gear till I was cleared of the flu. Standard hand sanitizer on entrance and exit. Once I was cleared of the flu all masks came off. Never occurred to them that I could be negative for flu but positive for CV. Obviously not tested for CV.

I’m so sorry for what you’re going thru. I can only imagine that mask made it that much more difficult to breath. How are you feeling now? I hope better?

I had a bone marrow transplant following getting into remission for AML leukemia. I never really bounced back. But, I’m still grateful.

I mostly wore the standard masks you referred to. Even when my counts were zero (had to take them there as part of the treatment ) staff still only wore the cheap masks. It wasn’t until I got home after the transplant that I learned about the N-95 masks and bought a bunch. But, they were never advised/recommended.

There was a twitter posted here a few days ago about if nurses were getting any training and the overall answer was, No.
