Since you asked, here’s my take. You’re more than welcome to accept it, reject it, or call me a 4-letter word. Keep in mind that I have no medical training, and therefore I’m open-minded about medical-related issues, and willing to think for myself.

Thank you for the serious reply. Other than wearing a mask at this point, I do most of that stuff. I never particularly liked crowds.

My point in asking the question is according to many people here there's really nothing we can do. It's too late. It's now out-of-control. No precaution is 100% effective so it's hopeless. We're all doomed no matter what we do.

Is this 'the end of mankind'? Some people seem to believe it is.

I've never lived through a global pandemic so I don't know how this will play out.

I'll continue being careful but according to many being careful is not enough. If being careful and cautious isn't enough, what can anyone do?

“If being careful and cautious isn’t enough, what can anyone do?”

Very little, as you already know. If you’re worried enough, and have the capability/means, perhaps totally isolate yourself completely from others (I’m inching close to that). We can now go months without skipping a beat.

Otherwise, try to stay healthy - don’t go outside without proper clothing...dress warm. If you get into a situation where you may otherwise get sick, such as improperly dressed for cold/wet weather...don’t do it, go back and get another layer! Don’t weaken your defenses. Not much, but better than nothing.

I was just talking to a guy that was dismissing this. “The flu kills more people than this thing! And if it IS so bad, well what’ja’gonna do - you can’t stop it!”

I used the example of having fire insurance on your home, and hoping you never have to use it. Perhaps a better example would be car maintenance. Driving a car can be deadly - but there are ways to better your odds. Make sure the brakes work and the tires are decent. Buy a newer, safer car if possible. Etc.

But it is idiotic to drive around in a broken down car held together with duct tape, shimmys, etc. and then say “Well - what ya gonna do? Everybody dies some day!”

Study the Spanush Flu and what people did back then. It also was made in China.
