Bloody Bill Anderson, Bloody William Quantrill come to mind.
These men were really just bandits. To refer to them as soldiers in the Confederate Army is a mistake. There were just ordinary criminals. Had they actually served in the Confederate army, most likely they would have been shot for any number of offenses.

Anderson was born in Kentucky but made a living, if you will, along the Kansas-Missouri border as a bandit and horse thief. Quantrill, oddly enough was originally from Ohio. Indeed both were common criminals. Anderson was a particularly violent and sadistic type, a veritable psychopath. Missouri's militia crumbled early in the war and what remained of it descended into banditry much to the distraction of Robert E. Lee.
