My Dad quit smoking in 1963. His lung cancer showed up in 2004.

My father’s step father – the only grandfather I ever knew, had quit smoking in the 1940’s – IIRC during the war because of the expense. He was diagnosed with and died from lung cancer in the late 1970’s.

Radon also causes a percentage of lung cancer – I think around 10-14%.

My premise is that it’s hit Africa. But, the climate probably makes more lethal to the virus.
