Republican strategist Kimberly Klacik said after winning the primary election to run for the late congressman Elijah Cummingss old seat in Baltimore that she won because of her grassroots efforts," and she added that some of President Trumps policies will help her historically blue district.
What I try to remind people is if you take a look at President Trump take a look at prison reform, First Step Act, hes actually just rewinding and fixing what was broken with that crime bill that led to so much mass incarceration that you really see in the greater Baltimore area, Klacik said on Fox News.
For the past year or so, Ive been going around in communities and talking to people. I believe I won the primary off of those grassroots efforts, she added.
Klacik was asked about polling that showed an increase in Trumps approval rating, and she responded by saying she agreed with CNN personality Van Joness comments that Trumps State of the Union address could resonate with black voters.
For so long, Democrats have taken the black vote for granted. I remember after Hillary Clinton lost in 2016, she spent two years traveling the country trying to figure out why she lost, but it is because they dont actually go into the black community and talk to people, or they make promises they dont keep, Klacik said.

Mr Trump could well garner up to 40% of the AA vote. And if those people vote for Trump, they might also follow down ticket with a bit of a wave.
Not guilty...
That photo is fine by me

Wow. No need for my second cup of coffee. She is a beauty.
Wow! What a wonderful looking young lady. I trust that helps her since so many voters just vote for a person based on appearance.
JoMa
I was thinking that, too.
Apparently its a thing that the more attractive candidate wins.
That combined with her grassroots activities, is bound to help.
I think she stands a chance.
It’s my district, and I’m definitely voting for her. I’m not 100% in agreement with her, but she’s far, far, far better than anyone on the other side. She would be a breath of fresh air.
