Padres change spring training hat after swastika comparison

The San Diego Padres scrapped their newly designed hats on the eve of spring training after appalled fans on social media compared it to a swastika.
The hat, created by MLB and the New Era headwear company for spring training, featured the Padres’ mascot swinging over an interlocking “S” and “D” — the team’s main logo.
The mishmash cut off the top of the “S,” leading some to say it resembled the emblem most commonly associated with Nazis.

I’m Jewish, and definitely sensitive to the issue of Nazis because I lost many distant relatives, and knew my wife’s uncle who survived 4 different camps including Birkenau.
There is NOTHING here. PUHLEEZE, this is like people looking for Mary and the baby Jesus in toast, or pictures of people in clouds. It is complete BS.
You want to worry about Nazis? Investigate Antifa and George Soros, and you’ll have a whole lot more material, and it’ll be legit. Leave the Padres alone - and I’m not even a fan of theirs.

I lived in the building facing us for about a year (Sep 1989) when I was stationed at NRRF Imperial Beach (but lived here on NAB Coronado).
They’ve “fixed” it now, with covered walkways between the buildings to give it a more “square” design.
I never noticed it when I lived there, either.
