Astros owner Jim Crane spoke Thursday morning as the franchise trotted out several players and execs to try to apologize for the sign-stealing scandal that has rocked the baseball world for the last few months.
But when directly asked if his teams cheating cost the Yankees a shot at winning a World Series title in 2017, Crane said "Our opinion is this didnt impact the game. We had a good team. We won the World Series and well leave it at that.

Did it affect the outcome of the game? I suppose it could be argued either way. But what can’t be argued is that it was intended to affect the outcome of the game.

I kept waiting for someone to ask, If it did not impact the game, why did they risk breaking the rules to do it?

We will see if Altuve bats .265 this year...

If their conduct didn’t (or wansn’t designed) to impact the game, why did they do it? Astros need to be stripped of the WS title and perhaps the pennant. Send a message.

I thought he had handled this fairly well until now. Thats total crap. Both the Yankees and Dodgers got screwed.
In a seven game series, one team signaling pitches in real time certainly had an impact. Period. They would not have done it if there wasnt an impact and in a close series there is no way I did not affect the outcome.

I dont recall any instances of using real time camera feeds and audible signals to batters back in the era of Babe or Mantle. This is completely different.

Perhaps I'm naive, but I always thought that stealing the other team's signs was part of the game.

So if it doesn’t impact the outcome of the game, but is unethical and sets a bad example for young fans, gives the team a PR black eye... Why do it?

Can't happen soon enough. If they can cancel the WS (1994), they can strip a WS too.

Stealing signs is as old as prostitution. And just as illegal too. They got caught and should pay the price.

I always thought that stealing the other team's signs was part of the game.
Looking for the catcher's fingers between his legs with your eyes is one thing ... but using a camera crew and sophisticated electronics is another.
