A Democratic strategist listed off a series of accomplishments President Trump has achieved that will help him with African American voters.
"I'm gonna send this flag up so the Democratic Party — people need to understand this," Jamal Simmons, a political analyst for CBS News, said Sunday on Face The Nation. "We talked to Terrance Woodbury, who's a young African American pollster. He has been saying for months that President Trump has been going very hard at African American men."
Simmons, who worked on campaigns for Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, cited Trump's public friendship with celebrity power couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, the extradition of rapper A$AP Rocky from Sweden, and an uptick in federal money given to Historically Black Colleges and Universities as factors that might lead to an increase in the president's popularity among young, black voters.
"They're not gonna let up," he said.
Trump got 8% of the black vote in the 2016 general election.
During his State of the Union speech Tuesday, Trump touted a strong economy and low unemployment numbers, specifically among African Americans.
"The unemployment rate is the lowest in over half a century," Trump claimed. "And very incredibly, the average unemployment rate under my administration is lower than any administration in the history of our country. If we hadn’t reversed the failed economic policies of the previous administration, the world would not now be witnessing this great economic success."
Cameras caught many Democrats sitting and scowling during these remarks.
Trump will do better than he did in 16.. but as much as I would love to say he will do better than historical norms, at this point I see nothing on the ground to indicate Trump will outperform traditional norms which is 10 % plus or minus a few points.
Best ever was Reagan who got 14% in 1980.
I do believe Trump offers a strong argument, but that doesn’t mean he will get large movement outside of historical norms.
If Trump pushes hard for school choice, and I mean Really really does something not just talk about it, he may be able to move outside the historical norms... however right now I see nothing on the ground to indicate Trump will be outside the norms. He will almost certainly be closer to 12 % than 8% which would be a 50% improvement over 16, but not anything outside historical norms.
Just as Ds forever have felt minorities are not smart enough, strong enough to make it without government aid, so too have they failed to realize the traditions of minorities are in stark contrast to their impressions. Namely religion which is prominent in latin countries and with the black community.
The soft bigotry of low expectations will come back to bite those who feel politics is demography.
Do nothing freeloaders, looking for a handout who don't care about advancing their well-being and providing for their families ? Only a tiny few.
The rest --and the greater majority--who've attempted to migrate here, who Ds have courted to bolster their needy and reliable voting base will support the freedoms and self-worth and hope that DJT embodies.

Black female’s DNA lead them to automatically vote Democrat. It’s reactionary. There is no decision making. Emotion based decision making is also at play.
A prophecy a few months ago said that the next POTUS after “The Donald” will also be named Trump. There are three potentials; but Don, Jr. would be my preference.
Too many Trumo supporters openly deride black voters as “Amish” or “low on the bell curve”
A black voter sees that and it isnt long before his or her ardor for Trump wanes.

The VP’s role is to serve as VP—it is his decision whether to run for the top job after 8 years. I really do like Mike Pence. However, he would not be able to withstand the pressures that the democrats have subjected DJT to. We need another street fighter. DT Junior might be a good choice, but certainly not the only one.
You’re not seriously equating Trump’s presidency with the Bush’s, are you?
I don’t know how much of a surge there will be, but Romney in 2012 got 4 percent of the black vote, and President Trump got 8 percent in 2016. I’m sure the president will be in double digits. The question is, how far into double digits?
All the GOP needs is about 15 percent of the black vote to render the Democrats essentially irrelevant electorally (except in certain districts.)

In the early years of the Republic, the position of Secretary of State was the best stepping stone to the Presidency: 6 of the first 8 Presidents had previously served as Secretary of State. After Van Buren only one more former Secretary of State has been elected President--James Buchanan.

I’d like to know why he received an envelope at GHWB’s funeral. That raises questions about his character to me.
