I always thought he took the fall because they started to get to Obama and shut it down pronto. Remember when the press did their deep dig on it with a single question to Obama? It went something like this:

Press: Did you have anything to do with the sale of your senate seat?

Obama: Nope. And I asked all my people and they didn't either.

Press: Okay, great, thanks.

I think Blagovich made an interesting comment in his prison-exit interview about righting wrongs or cleaning things up or something. At the time, it sounded to me like he was going to name names. But the popular interpretation was more AA-style ... that he intended to make amends for his past errors.

Did a deep search on the man who eventually got the appointment and posted a thread. Title was something about not being the innocent in whorehouse. Also started collecting information on Chicago crime. It’s about an 800+ post thread. BlankO just was getting in their way and not doing as he was told.
