Doug asked Eric to tell him the real story of how Pence was picked, which went something like this.....
Eric and his dad were with the Pence’s at a rally in Westfield, IN where they got word that a piece of metal had damaged a tire on the plane when landing.
They would need to spend the night.
They made arrangements to stay at the Hilton in Indianapolis. the Pence’s invited them to dinner. He says there was great conversation that night. He said I know my father and I could tell he and Pence were on the same page.
When they got back to their hotel corridor, Trump told Eric to call Ivanka, Jared and Don and get them out there. He knew lightening had struck.
Eric went on to say that if that piece of metal had not been on the runway Mike Pence may not have been the running mate. “Sometimes things happen for a reason!”
