I was at a campaign victory party in IL in 1998, and someone had taken a NEWSMAX yard sign and wrote FreeRepublic.com on the back of it and was holding it up in the air for everyone to see, so I made a note of it and looked up FR once I got home, and that was it- I was hooked.
I misspoke before, stating that I lurked from 1996-1998. I lurked from 1998-2000, and then I eventually signed up in 2000.

Thank you for your comments the other day when I reported on the PHX rally. I owed a lot of people replies that I did not get to yet. This place gets going sometimes about 200 mph.
I saw that the DNC debate thread the other night had over 900 comments in just a few hours. Wow!
