It was the end of Charles Lee’s military career. After Monmouth, he pretty much disappears from the history books.

One of my 5th great grandfathers lived between the two armies and didn’t do well with his property in that battle. I’m wondering if Lee’s opinion of the men in the area wasn’t similar to ggf’s. He quit his commission as Colonel in 1776 because when he called his militia to practice, none of them would show up on the parade ground and he got so mad he just quit.
