I left the DFW TX area after forty years partly because of the outrageous property taxes and the ever increasing cost of living in the metro area.

Property taxes made more sense when people who payed them were the only ones allowed to vote in bond elections and people on welfare weren’t allowed to vote at all.

Outside of Austin, our property taxes are nearing 4 months of income for a dinky old house. Four generations and it was supposed to be my last home but can’t afford it thanks to the Californians invading and jacking up the prices.

Yea, Texas sure has REALLY NICE, and new schools, along with HUGE stadiums. The property tax system, which allows huge increases in taxes paid by homeowners without even a vote of any elected officials, gets all the ‘credit’ for that, and is PROTECTED by Democrats, along with a decent amount of ‘owned’ Republicans here.
