What’s your problem?

I said the mortality rate ( by my calculation ) seemed to be about 3%.

No need to get ‘the vapors’ over <1%

I am just sayin compared to something like Ebola which is 75% you are RELATIVELY safe if you catch this.

Now, if the reports coming out after this are true- it may be something worse than the Chinese are letting on.

Which is kind of my point. Why all the hysteria over <3% mortality- From videos coming out it looks like people suddenly just fall over...

Maybe the Chinese are lying.

Even 1% mortality would be very bad if, say, 30% of the population is in the calculation. That’s a lot of deaths added to the usual deaths, in a fairly short period of time. Plus, the “collateral” is huge.

Also not being discussed is that recoveries of severely to critically ill patients may take a long time. When my then under 60 y/o brother got a critical case of necrotic pneumonia, he was in the hospital for well over a week after he “got over the hump”. Rehab was over two weeks more. He permanently lost over 1/2 of his lung function.

Let’s say the estimates are off, and we are “only” talking about a 2% mortality rate. Evidently you have NO clue as to the ramifications of a (apparently) highly contagious disease with a 2% mortality rate.

Look, I’ve been making many posts trying to tamp down unwarranted rumors, “panic”, etc. But, 50 million deaths directly due to this virus is looking like a VERY reasonable projection, if the general run of info. coming out from relatively responsible sources is correct. And that 50 million deaths doesn’t even get into the collateral damage. One is either ignorant or insanely self-centered to dismiss such, if comforting themselves in the reassurance that any one individual’s personal health risk from 2019-nCoV is low.

“Vapors”? No. Steeling ourselves for what is looking more and more likely? Yes.

You must assume the Chinese are lying. All governments lie. Our radiation sensors on the NW coast of the US failed during Fulushima. Apparently there is no such thing as emergency service. Lol.

It’s not the deaths, per se. it would completely overwhelm the system. At our hospital the “normal” flu will overwhelm the place for days at a time.

That means many of these patents are not going to be treated, and people will not get any help. That will kill more people.

It would turn normal city hospitals into something out of Somalia.
