15-year-old American Coco Gauff became the youngest player in the professional era to eliminate the reigning women's champion at the Australian Open, beating former No. 1 Naomi Osaka 6-3, 6-4 in the third round at Melbourne Park on Friday.

Coco is an amazing player. She hasn’t even reached peak stamina or strength. If she keeps her head on straight, she will dominate the sport for the next 5 to 10 years.

I wonder if Serena’s age is a factor. She seems to run out of steam as tournaments progress these days.
I think Coco and Naomi are going to make women’s tennis fun to watch for the next few years.
Serena is getting too old to be competitive, Woman’s tennis players probably peak at their mid-twenties unless you have a brute power game like Serena.
Serena is one behind Margaret Court in grand slam titles. She needs 1 to tie and 2 to become queen in that category. I think that is her motivation at this point.

I don’t have ESPN. Cancelled cable 4 years ago. I had to pull up the Open’s website and wait for them to update each point on their live scoreboard.
