I was still just a teen when one of my newly wed friends called to tell me she found this great bargain on some fish called tripe, and wanted to know how to cook it. Lol.
My first attempt at making sourdough had my dad under the house to see what had died.
My first cherry pie tasted good, Pitts and all.

One thanksgiving I wanted to do the turkey.
Mom said okay and watched the Macy parade.
I was about 14 tears old.
The turkey had a neck in the body cavity.
Since I didn’t see a giblet bag, I thought it was good to go!

Yes-the giblet bag was in the neck cavity.
My late Mom stared at me a long time...
A VERY long time..

LOL!
Tripe?
Yark!
Can’t handle that stuff!
It’s just gross!

I consider myself a pretty good cook.
I can cook you anything from Cajun, to Indian curries
to Cassoulet,

I can NOT make a nice bread to save my soul!
The last time I tried, Mr B gave it Last Rites!

You're early cooking experiments sound similar to my big sis's.

She had a Betty Crocker for Kids cookbook and couldn't wait to experiment on us.

Her first attempt was a near disaster.

I just remember Mom pinching me, as she came to the dinner table...and telling me....just say it is delicious.

🤢
