I agree it doesn't make a lot of sense to tax SS distributions as income since that's where they came from in the first place, but it is as close to means testing as we're likely to see in the near future. Effectively it puts those of us who did manage to save an adequate retirement in the position of taking less so that others not in that situation can take more, (which is as socialistic as it sounds)

It's a well established and simple rule of government:

Not old enough. When we switch to Long Term Disability we can either gon on Cobra @$3600/month or switch to something else. Her company provides the LTD but you are terminated from the position and they can replace you.

So, that’s when I start eating into my 401k and savings.

And the “purple ribbon folks” are doing cartwheels because the 5 year cure rate for Pancreatic Cancer hit 10%. So, it kills your wife, takes your money, and leaves you destitute. I should have taken heroin—same result.

Cobra is $3600.00 a month......OMG I just retired and went on Cobra for a couple of months until medical ins. is all straightened out and it is $125.00 a month for myself only, being the employee, my regular insurance through the company for EXCELLENT PPO coverage was $28.00 a month for employee only!!! I HATE unions however my medical insurance was better than ANYTHING I have ever had my entire life!!! I am so sorry you folks are going through this!!!

This really pisses me off when those crapiticians feed off our taxes, get thousands in bribes, sweetheart deals and so on......and still want to cut benefits on seniors. What about those that exist on SS ONLY??? A lot of them don’t have pensions to go along with SS......but as long as Crapitol Hell gets their ill gotten gains and caters to those who aren’t even citizens and give them the farm for votes I wish them slow, agonizing deaths!!! I hate them!!! Yes, some are Republicans of which I am NOT one anymore!!
