He’s one of the last core founders a passing genre.
I’m devastated. Been listening to Rush since 85, they were the soundtrack to my life. I’ve read most of Neil’s books. He was such a talent. A poet. I hope he was saved. Feels like losing a friend, aye? :(
Yes. He described himself as an open borders, bleeding-heart libertarian in that interview. Im a Rush fan, I saw them a few times live, but Neil was a pretty complex dude.
lol, slim Jims don’t rot
Steven Tyler was known for sabotaging opening acts when they got too good of a response from crowds.
Nooooooooo!
Where is that blog dude who considers himself the “next rush” or something? He better get himself an audition soon!
Saw them in 87...all I could do was watch Neil play the drums...he was extraordinary. My two favorite songs were “Time Stand Still” & Bravado. Read his book on his motorcycle journey (a journey he took after he lost his daughter in an automobile accident and lost his first wife months later). He went through a lot of pain, yet found happiness again. I’m glad he did. God bless him. RIP
Sorry to hear it. Though I can’t stand that lead singer’s voice & have to turn it off after a couple of notes.
There are apparently amusing stories about Rush opening for Kiss in the recent Time Stand Still, which I have yet to see. Beyond the Lighted Stage was fantastic.
He's at the County Syphilis Clinic.
Let's have a little compassion here, Larry.
Right. Open borders are not compatible with a welfare state. He might have known that, once upon a time, but somehow forgot it.
Agreed on all counts.
Clapton turns 75 in a few months, FWIW. Saw him in concert for the first time last September, at his Crossroads Guitar Festival in Dallas.
I've seen some great concerts, but this one was otherworldly. One of my favorite memories from this 8 hour extravaganza was Los Lobos performing "Made to Break Your Heart", with Clapton and Susan Tedeschi joining them. Eric played the guitar solo...just incredible.
His encore song was Purple Rain.
It’s also funny/ironic, if he really believed that, that Canada has more restrictive immigration laws than the US does. That, and his last days were spent in his Santa Monica (CA, USA) home.
Another rocker gone at 67. That’s seems to be the limit for a lot of these guys over the last few years (Keith Richards being the exception, of course - I think that he knew Methuselah).
Condolences to his family and friends.
