Equally obvious, with hindsight, is that the American dream of happiness-by-right and the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha cult of duty were never going to make easy bedfellows. It’s probably too late to mention that actually doing what’s ‘right’ for a Prince and Princess of the United Kingdom can be pretty accurately summed up as ‘just shut up and do your job’.
