But for Donald Trump, the road is wide open. There are no lurking scandals. All the questions have been answered. His enemies have launched their warheads only to see them bounce off. In the upcoming term – I don’t think we need to discuss reelection here – they would be reduced to shouting, capering, and banging on their shields. For the first time in a long time, a reelected Republican will have perfect freedom to accomplish whatever he wishes.

The "Mistake" part of this is what invites reflection.
There are precedents however:
1) TWA Flight 800 was apparently brought down in 1996 by a missile fired in error. I have personally spoken with an air traffic controller who saw it, along with many of his colleagues who were on duty. Possible source of missile: U.S. Navy.
2) Iran Air Flight 655 was shot down in 1988 by the autonomous Aegis defense system of the USS Vincennes, which mistook it for a threatening war plane. Humans did have an opportunity to countermand the robot system's decision, but were unable to determine in time that it was a civilian craft.
And that videographer just happened at that time to be aiming at a piece of dark sky with only a distant plane in the middle frame... what's up with that? What did the western nets pay for that video? To whom?
