Brilliant Prof Peterson goes in to much detail, about the author, the book (3 MASSIVE volumes), and the subject.

Stalin's regime was responsible for between 50 - 100 million deaths, under and through the oppressive Soviet Union. This book was aloud to be published during a short lived 'thaw' (during 60s), that allowed a look into the horrors of the Gulag/oppression/horrid conditions.
