I wonder too how the software engineers (who seem to trend Leftist) appreciate ol’ Joe implying that their skills are so basic that they compare to stoking a furnace?

I was thinking that as well. Most developers that work for me are earning north of $100K a year. All have a four-year degree in Computer Science or Engineering, additional certifications and we pay for their continuing education because the tech world advances very quickly.

My Dad started out with computers as a key-punch operator just after WWII. When I was in the USAF in 1976, My Dad thought it was a "hoot" that I had to send our daily report to the Defense Communications Agency (DCA) that I typed on punch cards through the Data Center. I wish my Dad had lived long enough fo me to be able to tell him that years later, for the telephone switch billing files, I also swapped out and spooled magnetic tapes, just like he did in the 1960's.
