That’s true, but this discussion is being dragged on needlessly due to people using different terms.

The basic thing we need to establish is that for the purpose of the original comment, years like 2000 are not considered to be part of the 1990s but are instead part of the 2000s because, well, they start with 2000. Same that 2020 isn’t part of the 2010s, even if it’s the last year of the two thousand and tenth decade.
