As a fellow Catholic, I agree the Pope’s reaction in slapping at the woman was odd and petulant.

Not exactly a model of the virtue of patience...

He used to be a bouncer. She's lucky he didn't body slam her.

If she was beseeching him about the situation of the Catholics in China - whom he has abandoned - then his reaction was one of not wanting to be reminded of his guilt, and him calling her a “—itch” and trying to get away from her is understandable. (I believe Benedict XVI is still the Holy Father and Bergolio proves it every day.)
