Excellent point. To negotiate, you need to act in a friendly manner toward the other side. And that necessitates complements and showing understanding of the culture of the other side. Many of these art pieces are listed as National Treasurers, so a big deal in South Korea and, I would assume, in North Korea. And, yes, royalty was buried in the big ones.
