Okay. 2175 to 2200 is a long way off. But the asteroid weighs 68 million tons and is moving at 63,000 miles per hour. Any solution to this threat may take a long time to develop and implement. The solution also needs to not make the problem worse.

This is complex and may require international cooperation and resources. Where is the dedicated military force needed to coordinate the actions needed to successfully deal with this problem? (And address the many other Near Earth Objects (NEO) that potentially threaten the Earth.)

Oh yeah. It seems that doofus, that bumbling dunderhead Trump has already decided to establish a United States Space Force and it just activated its headquarters.

Guess that’s what happens when you elect a real estate developer to be president: a focus on managing risks to the property, improving its operational efficiency, and both a long and short term concern for retaining and increasing its value.

Yeah, what were we thinking!

I listened with interest to some of the talk about space force, including that by the President. Did any of it include mention of dealing with extraterrestrial dangers like asteroid and comet strikes?
