Are you sure? There are an untold number of makes and models. Far too many to assign each a strobe pattern or to expect them to be effective in quick identification.

All sorts of military and civilian aircraft pass over my house. Each aircraft type displays a distinctive strobe pattern.

I agree with you here. What I meant was that certain makes and models may have different strobe patterns. Many are obviously identical. According to mine and other aircraft similar to mine, all late model high wing Cessnas seem to have the same strobe pattern. Likely because they have the same type of strobe lights.
