Yes it did - magic trick when we needed to stop coughing and go to sleep!
Do you pop out at parties? Are you un-poopuler?
Metrical I had heard of. The dark brown multicebrin not so much.
My grandpa had a picture of Eleanor Roosevelt taped to the back of the bathroom door for when he needed a good physic. He was so funny!

LOL
All sorts of soup is good for you especially if it has garlic and onions in it.
Liked it? I loved it.
THREADSLIDE> I was very familiar with the taste of molasses, because we always had a gallon can of Ribbon-cane Molasses in the cabinet under the sink. It was wonderful on Mom’s hot, buttered biscuits (still one of my favorite “Mlidnight Snacks”! )
But, the real treat was in the bottom of the can, where the sugar crystallized out into “Rock Candy”... </THREADSLIDE> ‘-)

Rock Candy—had not thought of that in years. LOL We used to have it on had all the time. Mom made a cough syrup that used rock candy, lemon juice, and whiskey—burned all the way down-stopped the cough flat out fast.
Sorghum Molasses in a can—that’s what we always had. My grandmother baked bread every week—never bought a loaf of bread from the store, and homemade biscuits every morning.
My grand parents had a small dairy herd. So we had home made butter. They had wild grapes and blackberries, so granny made home made jelly and that’s what we put on the biscuits.
But afternoon snack-butter mixed with molasses spread on a thick slice of home made bread and washed down with fresh glass of cold raw milk. Favorite snack ever.
Alright, now that’s funny.
My Grand Dad had FDR, 1ST dictator of the United States.
And writing ahead to schedule a long distance call.
Roosevelt pics in the bathroom must’ve been a fad in the ‘40s, huh?
Amazing coincidence: my "Most Memorable Treat" story is quite similar! We must be "of a similar age"... '-)

As a kid, as soon as school was out, I was allowed to spend a few weeks in "The northeastern Texas Piney Woods" -- on "the family farm" (where I'm now retired) -- with my grandparents.
A major May-June family outing each year was to pick several gallons of wild blackberries and dewberries (basically ground-vine blackberries -- only larger).
One morning, "Little Mama", my maternal grandmother, was cooking a big pot of berry preserves and baking her wonderful sourdough bread -- and, while doing so, she sat me down on the back porch to churn butter.
When I was done, I got to watch her skim off the butter, salt it, and press it into one-pound blocks with her wooden butter mold/press.
The underside of the "press board" had three small flowers carved into it -- which left three raised flowers on top of the molded butter...
~~~~~~~~~~~
When she was done with the butter, she (as she frequently did) quoted scripture:
I Timothy 5:18 For the scripture saith,"Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward."
Then she cut off two thick slices of that fresh, hot bread, put it on a plate, melted huge chunks of just-churned butter into each slice -- and proceeded to ladle over it all -- steaming-hot, fresh berry preserves.
She then seated me back on the cool porch and handed me that plate -- along with a big glass of cold, fresh-from-the-cow milk -- with the cream floating on top!
~~~~~~~~~~~
Nothing else -- in all my 82+ years -- ever tasted so wonderful!

</THREADSLIDE> -- with apologies...
I seem to remember that Arthur Godfrey, who ruled radio in those days, heavily promoted either Metrecal or Geritol. Can’t remember which.
I remember Godfrey promoted Liptons soup.
It was used for abdominal cramping and diarrhea. It tasted like licorice and made you feel sleepy because it was tincture of opium.
Poly-vi-sol children’s vitamins. Brown.
