Could employ a digital watermark in the page images or animations to act as a beacon. An individual marker for each username could be applied. A user’s device knows it’s actual address, regardless of fooling an intermediate server with a VPN.

That is actually a good curiosity. :)

I have personally only had two altogether in my life that I have used alternately on dozens of boards. So I had never really thought about what I should come up with if I needed a new one, one or the other has always worked so far. :)

Something I find myself doing is trying to figure out what the thought or source might have been for other’s usernames. “wonder where the heck they got that one?”. But sometimes there really is a lot of reflection of personality shared in a username, it’s almost like reading body language of a sort. :)

As we move into the election season for one of the most important elections in our lives, there will indeed be sock puppets moving in who are not true Freepers and not here with good intentions. Raising this curious question has now brought attention to this real possibility that is coming. It happens every election on every political board like this. Raising the question has also raised awareness to watch for this. There will soon be enemies within the ranks, it is inevitable.

We can all see when an individual signed up. You signed up on Sep 14, 2016 just before the election as you have mentioned the possibility of others doing. If an individuals are disruptors here, that usually becomes obvious and they do not stay very long. It they try it multiple times the mods check their IPs and find them as you have done on your platforms in the past, VPNs notwithstanding.

And I joined because of all the mutual support for Trump I was reading on here and wanted to join the ranks in this support. And I have stayed since and not ducked off like a provocateur would do. But I came and read for many many years prior to actually joining. :)

My intentions were not against or to degrade the community, but just a simple reminder to help protect the community going into this election. And it woke up a bunch of folks on a Sunday night to create active participation on the board. Active Participation should be a #1 priority for every board, it creates traffic, and traffic is always good for a domain and community like this.

I always try to post something on Sunday that wakes folks up and creates active participation and traffic when I can. And still three days later it is being hit with replies, it apparently created some interest that brought users out of the wood works and onto the board. :)
