Interesting stuff, paralleling the Payseur/Virginia Company story.
For some reason, this made me think of the Canada explorer, Henry Hudson, who named Hudson Bay and after whom the iconic Canadian department store, Hudson's Bay, was named.
Hudson's explorations were funded by the Dutch East India Company. Before they were a department store, Hudson's Bay Company owned all of the land that drained into Hudson Bay, including Western Canada east of the Rockies, but they sold it to the new country of Canada in 1869.
It was an really interesting read.I friended him.Good researcher.
